I couldn't figure out how to work the Garmin GPS watch this morning so I had to guess my running distance. After I completed the run, Joel called and told me how to work the dumb thing. Out of crazy curiosity, I went ahead and walked the route to find out the precise distance. I also carried a camera to take some pics of my running route. The picture on the right is one of the little cliffside parks I described in an earlier post. People come here to watch the sunset or, if you're down on your luck, you can also take a nap on the bench (see gentleman on bench). Yea - so nothing really exciting about the run. It was sunny and warm so I was sweating like crazy and really wishing I wore a tank top rather than a long-sleeved dark shirt. One thing I did notice is that the other runners in the neighborhood don't seem especially friendly. None of the runners give me the little acknowledgment "nod". Everyone in MD and DC uses the "nod"! It's that friendly "you run, I run" gesture! All the walkers and dog-walkers gave me the nod though.

I hate you and your beautiful scenery... and I think you should wear a shirt that says, "HI! I run, too." Then on the back, it should say, "Acknowledge me, you WANK!"
No? Not neighborly?
: )
