Training Day 2: 0-2 mile run

Date: 3 March 2008 / Distance: 2.57 miles / Time: 23:00

The schedule states 0 miles for day 2 -- but I'm pretty sure that's a typo because even the WALKERS have to do 2 miles today. I went ahead and ran 2 miles. I felt good today - Madonna was my musical companion and she rocked my world. I ran around 5:30 pm, which is around sunset time in San Diego. Sunset is BIG deal in San Diego - families and lovebirds actually gather together to watch the sun go down. My running path is dotted with cliffside parks with picnic tables, benches, and grassy areas. There is an air of intimacy and coziness -- you hear people murmuring, peoples heads are huddled together, it's like they're cuddling in front of a fireplace! I couldn't help but feel warm and fuzzy during my run. Plus, for the first time ever, I really appreciated being able to run along the beach and ocean. It was amazing....and it kept my mind off of the fact that I was huffing and puffing up a hill. Sheesh - maybe, just maybe, as a result of this 1/2 marathon training, I will gain a greater appreciation of what San Diego has to offer.

We'll see what happens tomorrow. I'm going to get up at 7 am to run 2 miles with Joel. No warm and fuzzies for sure -- just bed-head and pre-coffee irritability. Meh.

Go team!
-Karen
