Training Day 16: Flexibility

Date: St. Patrick's Day / Stretching on my Purple Mat /

My stomach is stuffed full of corned beef and cabbage right now. Happy St. Patty's day! Funny story: Joel doesn't own any green shirts so he wore a little Ireland flag pin instead. Joel said he was asked the same questions by a bunch of people today: 1) Why are you wearing a flag pin? 2) Is that the flag of Mexico? 3) Hey, where is your green? Oh - it's on your pin. Is that the reason you wore that pin? For the green?

Yikes!

ANYWAY, back to the half marathon training! The strength workout I did on Saturday was very effective. I'm definitely feeling the squats and the lunges. The muscles in my lower body are SORE. I feel a dull pain when I try to sit down, to walk and to stand up from a seated position. I decided to skip the strength training option today and just focus on stretching. I also tried to follow along with the bonus dvd that came with my Bosu. However, it was a half-hearted effort, at best. Can anyone recommend any good yoga dvds or any new stretching exercises?

K ~ this is the dvd I was going to try to copy for you, haven't had a chance yet though. I really like this one; I think it's a good combination of strength/stability and stretching, and even after a couple years I still find parts of the routine pretty challenging. I've gained a ton of flexibility from it. It's only $15 if you want to just buy it; otherwise I'll see if I can copy it this weekend.

The url kept getting cut off so I chopped it up...let me know if you can't see part of it and I'll just email it. :P

hahahahah I love the green pin story how hilarious! I am sure Joel had some smart ass comments about people asking if it was a flag of Mexico.
