Training Day 17: 1-3 mile run

I didn't make it to the yoga/pilates class yesterday; Dave and I were supposed to go over to the gym at 10:30, but he slept until 1pm! So I did about an hour of yoga at home. I was thinking about going to play tennis afterwards but then opted for a bath instead. I'm pretty into my lazy Sundays :) Also, I just felt super tired and run down! Toward the end of the night I started developing a sore throat, and as a result I had a really restless night of sleep where I kept waking myself up to swallow and see if my throat was still sore, better or worse, etc. I knew I was being psycho but it was like a reflex. Pretty lame. So this morning I felt very, very tired, and yes, my throat was still sore.

However, I still was able to muster the motivation to head to the gym for today's run--telling myself it was technically only a 1-3 mile run and I didn't have to do all 3 miles.

Warm-up: 24-minute "fat burn" workout on the elliptical
Run: 3 miles @ 27:33
Cooldown: 1/2-mile walk
strength circuit
stretch
no situps--I was DONE. maybe I'll do them later.

So yeah--I did all 3 miles anyway. This is probably the first time I've kept a consistent pace throughout the whole run--often what I'll do is adjust the speed and run half a mile at like a 10:00 pace and then half a mile at an 8:30 pace, and just toggle back and forth. This time I ran the whole three miles at 9:13/mile (except for the last 1/2 mile when I put an REO Speedwagon ballad on my ipod and upped the pace to 8:43--haha) and it was a bit harder than the back-and-forth method. It may have also been that I'm just tired. Anyway--I was pretty shocked that I completed the whole thing. Now I've earned my nap.
