Training Day 19: Running with Germs

I haven't skipped the gym in about 2 years, but this cold has totally wiped me out. After calling in sick to work and lying around all day feeling like a balloonhead, I finally peeled myself out of bed around 3pm. I knew that if I didn't at least try to run today then I would have to make it up tomorrow, and I couldn't relax thinking about it. Even as I pulled on my workout clothes I wasn't sure if I was going to make it out the door, but I'm very glad I did--the weather was beautiful and otherwise I would have missed the entire day. So I walked over to the neighborhood park with the plan that I would just see how far I could get, and not even try for a good time or anything. Somehow I ran (well, jogged) 14 times around the park and then ran back home and mapped it on the USATF site. I've been a little too generous with my mapping up until today, and what I thought would be 4+ miles was actually 3.67. Still a pretty good run for a sick day. Tomorrow I may or may not go to school so that will determine whether I do cross-training or just some afternoon yoga. But next week is Spring Break so hopefully I'll be over my cold and ready to run!

Yeah, my sinus infection slowed me down, too. But I kept working out for the same reason -- you either have to make it up or the next day may be even worse! Get plenty of rest and fluids -- hope you feel better soon and can take advantage of your Spring Break.
