Training Day 15: Stupid GPS Ruins Everything!

Date: 16 March 2008 / Distance: 3.92 mi (per USA TF) / Time: ??!!

Before I started my long run today, I noticed a prompt on my GPS watch that stated, "Battery Low". I shrugged it off. The battery should last me another 40 minutes, right? I was anxious to get my run started because I had limited daylight left in the day and I had to get home in time to cook moussaka for friends I invited over for dinner. Well, 1.62 miles into my run, the GPS battery went dead. As a result, I had to guess my distance during the run and I had no idea how quickly I ran. When I got home, I was able to map my distance on the US ATF website. I tried to obtain my running time by adding up the times of all the Madonna songs I listened to on my iPod. Unfortunately, my iPod shuffled the album songs (rather than playing the songs in the proper album order) so after about 15 minutes of trying to remember which songs I listened to, I started getting mixed up and more and more frustrated. UGH! When it comes to running, I really like to track my progress. I want to do a little analysis on my running pace over the course of this training. Now, I'm missing a data point and it's really vexing. I spent so much time trying to figure out my running distance and time tonight that I had to delay dinner with friends by an hour. Joel was able to calm my numbers obsession by redirecting my attention to cooking. I made moussaka and hummus for dinner. I think it turned out pretty well!

Hahahhah you can't get away from being an analyst can you!!! You are great for tracking all that data for your progress. You should be a trainer. You can stand out amoung other trainers by adding the statsical analysis to map the progress of the client's training. GO RUNNING GIRL!!!
