I wasn't planning on it, but after the first two miles I figured I'd go to three, and after I hit three I figured I might as well do another lap...and I just kept going. By the end I was extremely tired and didn't feel like I could have gone much further without my legs giving out, but mentally I felt extremely happy and serene as though I'd just finished some hardcore meditation. Anyway--now I know I can do 4 miles--I'm pretty excited :)
My workout today:
Warm-up: 20-minute cardio session on the elliptical
Run: 4 miles @ 36:29
- Mile 1: 8:42
- Mile 2: 8:53
- Mile 3: 9:10
- Mile 4: 9:44 (I slowed down at the beginning to drink some water)
Stretch & situps
Now I'm going to study for midterms and then watch Big Brother 9 and turn my brain off. It's supposed to rain here this weekend so I may have to do my long run at the gym ~ we'll see. I'm also going to try to get into one of the yoga/pilates classes at the gym this weekend. Roar!
I hope you sickies feel better very soon! :)

OH MY G! You did 20 minutes of elliptical ON TOP of the 4 mile run?!! You're a beast!
haha! Congrats on the 4 miles -- you did it in a GREAT time too!

Congrats on the long run! Where's your "lap"? How do you measure it? I drove mine with my car, but I'm still afraid it's off a little... I SOOOOO don't want to have to buy one of those 'spensivo GPS watches!
Erin--this was on a treadmill, which shows my progress in 1/4-mile laps around an oval track--similar to the one back at good old DHS! At the park where I do my outdoor runs it's just a big rectangle, so one lap around the park would be an entire mile.
Also, for other outdoor routes I use this website Karen told me about: http://www.usatf.org/routes/map/
Seems highly accurate--check it out!
Yeah, I tried the site -- it's really different than what my odometer said... that's why I wanted to know how you were tracking it. Today is gorgeous here -- I mean, we had snow last week, but then today is sunny and 70. My long run is scheduled for tomorrow when it's supposed to rain! I'd do it today, but I've got Miles and can't leave him home by himself... guess I'll either do it on the treadmill tomorrow or in the rain. Hardcore, baby! Yeah!
haha :) I thought about doing it in the rain too. That sounds kind of dirty. Anyway, I think that website is totally accurate, only because I know that in Sacramento 14 blocks = 1 mile and that's exactly what the map calculates for me. Other than that I have no way to track it except on the treadmill...no GPS for me either :)
