.) It was 90 degrees so the sun was bearing down on us and causing our skin to sizzle.
.) It was 90 degrees so the sun was baking the sand and the residual heat was rising and creating a bubble of heat around me and Stephanie
.) There were 50 million scantily clad people on the boardwalk emanating a ton of body heat
.) The grills at the boardwalk restaurants and bars were cooking overtime and all the grill heat was spilling on to the boardwalk where we were running
.) For some really stupid reason, I wore a black hat and a black top, which absorbed all the heat in the universe
Stephanie said she saw people drinking cold, refreshing beverages and felt crummy because she didn't have one. I saw people frolicking in the ocean and the pool. I actually entertained the idea of taking a short running detour into the ocean and including it in my mileage for the day. The crowds (roller bladers, bikers, fellow runners, quick walkers, slow walkers) on the boardwalk made the run even more interesting. Stephanie and I engaged in slalom running. We were dodging, weaving, zigging, zagging, and doing the robot. There were a couple sections where we had to jog in place or where we had to run a quick detour but it wasn't terrible. Once we hit the 3 mile mark, we turned around and we were punched by a crazy headwind. Ha ha! It actually felt kind of good. We ran the remaining 3 miles against the wind. We finished it! Joel saw us when we finished our run -- he said our faces were beet red.
