My friend Matt came into town from DC so I had to push my run from dawn to dusk. We spent the day walking all over the zoo, checking out the ocean cliffs at the Torrey Pines Gliderport, and tidal pooling in La Jolla cove. I saw my very first octopus today. I was goofing around a small tidal pool when I suddenly saw a purple tentacled arm stretch out from underneath a rock. It freaked me out and I started shaking my hands and yelling "AAAAGGGHHH!" - but Matt calmed me down with his scientific speak and I resumed my octopus observation. By the time I got home, I was feeling tired and seriously thinking about skipping my run. Joel changed my mind. He volunteered to ride his beach cruiser to keep me company. Plus, we timed our trip to coincide with the sunset! I think I ran a faster pace because I wanted to keep up with Joel and because I was trying to beat the sunset. I don't enjoy running in the dark. I'll probably do my core strength workout tomorrow.

Well I guess your reaction to the octopus means your are not going to be a marine biologist as a new career! I think it is so cute that you and Joel keep eachother company on your beach cruisers, I love it! I also think its great that Joel motivates you to keep on schedule.
I am looking forward to our run this Sunday. I have a good route for us too if you ever want to run in OB, it has hills too!
