Blog slacker

I last left you on Wednesday after my mini triathlon training. Thursday was a killer day (real smart before a 10-miler, eh?)....

1 hr Cardio Kickboxing (the sadisic B focused on monkey squats and other painful quad/glute exercises)
1 hr Pilates (the other sadistic B focused on leg raises to the point of muscle failure)
Whole body strength circuit (yeah, my thighs and glutes were D-E-A-D)

So I woke up Friday morning thinking, "Yeah, I can run 10 miles today." That is, until I sat up. I was so sore, it took me a couple of minutes to work the soreness out enough to walk to the bathroom! Ten miles, yeah, not so much.

S-T-R-E-T-C-H!!!!!!
5.67 miles (with a most necessary potty stop at Emma's elementary school in the middle!)
S-T-R-E-T-C-H!!!!!!!

The good news is that when I did finally get going, I was in a good rhythm. Other than the major bell in the road (so that there's drainage), my legs felt good. Now I know which sections to avoid on these streets -- they make the shin of the leg that's closest to the yellow line hurt something fierce. My 10-mile route is on the shoulder of a much larger road, so I don't have that issue. But there's far less to look at and people honk. Jerks. Of course, on the smaller roads, drivers apparently think that you should jump off the side of the road into a ditch every time they pass. What is it WITH people? Anyway, today should be yoga and a strength circuit, but I'm getting ready for Emma's first sleepover -- she's very excited and I still have a lot of house to clean.
: )
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Good luck on the 5K!
