Recap: Weeks 12-10

Our Mexican vacation was everything Running Girl described and more. Our exercise for the week consisted of one walk on the beach, one 16-mile bike ride, and one 24-minute run, followed by a whole lot of stumbling to and from the bathroom, with intermittent periods of lying down and groaning. Good stuff.

So Week 12 was a bit of a wash. I missed that week's middle (4-mile) and long (5-mile) run and instead watched a lot of movies, ate mashed potatoes and swilled Gatorade.

Week 11, thankfully, was slated as a recovery week anyway, and I really needed it. I don't remember what I did on Monday, but it wasn't much. Possibly a 2-mile run. Tuesday I either stretched a bit or did nothing. Wednesday I ran 2 miles and walked a bit. Thursday I did nothing again. Friday I was feeling about 80% better, though still really fatigued, and I did 30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical, ran 3 miles, and did my weight circuit. Saturday was a lovely 2 mile run + 3 mile walk, which I happily completed. My legs were actually pretty sore after all that walking!

Week 10 dawned much brighter than the previous two and I was able to stop dreading the prospect of exercise quite so much. Plus it was a pretty easy week, with only 3 runs:
  • Monday: 15-minute elliptical warm-up, 3-mile run, strength circuit
  • Tuesday: 40 minutes of yoga
  • Wednesday: some sort of warm-up I don't remember, 2-mile run
  • Thursday: 35-minute cross-train on the elliptical, strength circuit
  • Friday: 1 hour of yoga
  • Saturday: 6-mile run, 1/2-mile walk
Today is the first day I've actually felt ~great~ since we got back from Mexico, which was pretty helpful for this morning's run. The 6 miles felt really easy, especially considering I hadn't run that long of a distance in quite a while! I felt tired at the end but not wiped out, and I didn't have the feeling I'd just completed a major run or anything; it felt like a pretty average-length, reasonable run, which was awesome.

I can't believe summer's almost over. 4 weeks 'til school starts again; and only 9 weeks to marathon time! :)
